Why do you ride?

My thanks for RodneyOlsen.net for drawing my attention to this video and campaign by peopleforbikes.org. It now has me wondering why I ride? Is it for weight loss? Is it for the environment? Is it for fitness? Is it for enjoyment? Is it for the freedom that it brings? Is it for reducing stress (well sometimes)? I think for me it is all of this … but more than anything the freedom and challenge it brings to me and the social aspect, both at the cafe and online. I ride because I can.

I know it sounds counterintuitive but I ride because I’m lazy! I can’t be bothered maintaining cars, parking cars, putting fuel in cars, paying for car parks… cleaning the car, etc etc also I can’t be bothered walking to the train station, waiting for the train, interacting with other people on the train…. waiting for my turn to swipe my smartrider….

When I can just jump on one of my bikes and go door to door in the same amount of time!
