RECALL: Echelon Sports/3T—3T Ventus Ltd & Team editions

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s Recalls Australia has announced a recall of 3T Ventus Ltd & Ventus Team bicycle aerobars (tri bars). The effected bars where sold between January 2009 and April 2010 by a number of retailers including Glen Parker Cycles here in Western Australia.

The reported hazard is that the two rubber hand grips on the aerobars (handle bars) can loosen or slip off during use, causing a fall or injury hazard to the rider hence the recall is for the grips which can come loose in some circumstances. The remedy for this issue is to fit new grips with adhesive which are available in a kit supplied by Echelon Sports from 3T or which can be fitted by your retailer.

Consumers should contact their local dealer where they purchased the bars, if they haven’t already been contacted by the dealer. The dealer will then have the Grip Fix Kit sent to them or the dealer will install the new grip kit on the bars for the consumer.

The full recall notice can be found on the Recalls Australia website and the 3T news release on the recall can be found here.
