Map Update – Midland to Perth Ride Map

cycling-swan-river-maylands The Department of Transport’s Bikewest unit has advised that the map, Ride from Midland to Perth has been updated.  The map is a strip style route map which outlines the route from the Perth CBD out to Midland CBD or reverse.  Interested readers can download a PDF copy of the map from the Department of Transport website.

The map describes this ride thus …

The Perth to Midland Bike Route is a combination of purpose built shared paths and local on-road links that provide a great bike ride without the need to travel along busy roads. The Bike Route commences at Perth Railway Station and follows the railway line for much of the way. There is a high quality shared path providing for easy riding between Perth and Bayswater. Between Bayswater and Midland, the route is a mix of shared paths and on-road facilities.

The overall distance is around 16 kilometres and will take between 1 and 2 hours to ride at a leisurely pace. The route connects with several town centres including Maylands, Bayswater, Bassendean and Guildford. In addition, there are connections with Perth Bicycle Network (PBN) Local Bicycle Routes. These on-road routes are along quieter streets and provide access to the Bike Route from surrounding suburbs and from the Bike Route to possible destinations such as the Swan River foreshore reserves.
