Bike Force – Fremantle
Aushiker | May 10, 2008 4:00 pmFebruary 15, 2009: Had an urgent need for a rear tail light (for some reason I keep loosing them off the bike) and was passing so dropped into Bike Force Fremantle. They didn’t have wanted I wanted (Planet Bike Super Flash) but they do now have a loyalty program which is free to join. Once you get your card (takes about five days) you get 15% off parts and accessories at the Fremantle store only. Worth signing up for in my view.
November 5, 2008: It seems Bike Force (chain and/or the Woodvale store rather than Fremantle as such) are not as nice as they make out. An alternate view on Bike Force Woodvale can be found here. Not a nice way to drop $2,600 and it would discourage me from every buying from a BikeForce shop or a Trek for that matter. Not worth the risk in my view. They could at least done a replacement frame at cost as a good will offer.
Back to regular programming …
As it seems to be getting harder coming across a good bike shop (see this post for my experience with Fleet Cycles as an example) I thought I would give a heads-up to Bike Force in Fremantle. My last experience with Bike Force at Fremantle was in July 2007 when I was shopping for my first bike. Lets just say I was less than impressed and walked off into Fleet Cycles. Maybe that was a mistake.
Today I was riding in Fremantle when I broke a chain. Knowing Bike Force was close, I got on the phone to them and yep they could do the chain straight away, no problems. They where true to their promise, where quick and friendly while I waited the fix of the chain.
What really impressed me but, was the look of the shop. It has changed hands since I last visited and is really a great looking store with a good range of road bikes including Trek, Masi, Ridley as well as others. The accessories are more suited to roadies from what I saw, which again is a nice change from my local bikes shops (LBS).
As an added bonus it has a little coffee shop attached and they run group rides out of the store on Saturday mornings.
Worth checking out in my view, especially now it has changed hands.
