Nominate a top trail

Andrew | December 11, 2007 12:22 pm

If you’re on the trail of something great, then Trails WA wants to hear about it. Nominations are now being taken for WA’s Top Trails and all are invited to nominate those they believe provide the best experiences for visitors.

The best trails in each region of WA will be promoted to potential visitors from Australia and overseas. Walk, bike, canoe, equestrian, snorkel, dive and drive trails are all eligible for entry.

Trails are fast being recognised as an effective way of contributing towards the social and physical well being of Western Australians.

From the world famous Bibbulmun Track that stretches nearly 1000 kilometres from Kalamunda to Albany, to the smaller series of 10 Fremantle Trails leading visitors through the historic port town, trails have become an activity of choice for locals and tourists alike.

But it is also those lesser known “best kept secrets” that Trails WA wants to hear about.

So if there is a particular trail that you would recommend to a friend visiting WA to provide a memorable and enjoyable experience, visit www.trailswa.com.au and nominate it.

Nominations close on January 31, 2008.

Additional information on trails including locations, tips events and maps is also available on the website.

CycleSport Victoria (CSV) – Cyclists’ Code of Conduct

Andrew | 9:46 am

Victoria’s peak cycling body, CycleSport Victoria has published a Cyclists’ Code of Conduct following the death of a pedestrian early this year during Melbourne’s infamous Hell Ride where it is reported moron cyclists behave well like morons.

The code of conduct seems to be pretty much common sense so doubt it will have much impact on the morons, but you just never now. I suspect those smart cyclists who ride with common sense and are considerate of others may get some benefit from it.

Back on the Bike

Andrew | 8:26 am

Having been off the bike since last Thursday following my visit the hospital and a spot of heart surgery it is nice to be back on bike (oh for modern surgery). Just a short ride this morning around Herdsman Lake to get a handle on how I am feeling. Hope to build this up a bit more during the week.
